"Avrudu with Visually Challenged 2017"

SocialService.lk brings to you "Avrudu with Visually Challenged 2017" (දෘශ්යාබාධිත සිංහල අලුත් අවුරුද්ද) for the 3rd consecutive year. This year too we will be conducting the Avurudu Uthsawaya with special focus upon increasing awareness among the general public about a group of our society that has been isolated.
This Avurudu event is organized in order to provide an unforgettable and divergent experience to each and every one who is a part of this event. It includes the participants, members, the public and most importantly, the visually impaired community. Their silent craving to be included in the customary avurudu games has so far gone unheard. But not with SocialService.lk. We seek to inspire and bring joy in their mundane lives.
So this is your chance to contribute and support this worthy cause by purchasing an event T-shirt for LKR 1000. All the funds collected will be added to the project funds which will be used mainly to provide the VC and their families white canes and gifts. No one will return home empty handed.
Hence, for this upcoming avurudu season - give your support to make this event a successful one. More detail - https://form.jotform.me/70678921015457

Is it permissible to work as a Lawyer in Islam?

Most of the Muslims think Islam doesn’t give any permission to work as a lawyer and some of us completely dislike about the law profession. Because they think it involves in referring to something other than the laws of Allaah for the judgement. I think this is completely a misconception. As Muslims, we shouldn't be narrow minded to that far.   Wor king as a lawyer is not harm in and of itself, because it is not judged according to something other than that which Allaah has revealed, rather it is acting as a people’s deputy or representative in cases of dispute, which is a permissible kind of deputation or representation. But the lawyer must be careful and make sure of the case before getting involved in it.  If it is a claim regarding some right that has been taken away in a wrong manner, then it is permissible for you to argue on his behalf to have his rights restored to him and the wrongdoing stopped. This comes under the heading of cooperating in righteousness and ...

"We'd Rather Spend more on our Daughter's marriage than her Education"

It's sad to think that there are still some societies that exist where parents are concerned and often feel burdened by the pressure of getting their daughters married. Their worry often begins before their daughters have even reached a marriageable age. Marriage gives priority, in some cases not all, over everything else and daughters are often made to feel that the sole purpose of their lives   is marriage and this should be their number one priority.   Parents start worrying about saving for their daughter's big day so they can get her married off in a culturally fitting manner. In a sense, they rightly do so; it's a good thing for parents to think about these things for their children and it's always wise to plan ahead. However, again in some cases not all, we need to ask the question; why is a girl's education not given equal importance? Why do we feel that educating our daughters is a waste of time and money, but paying thousands in credit towards her we...
